GPON is presently operating in the Northeastern regional part of Nigeria where we have reached over 100,000 lives with relief materials, child protection services. GBV mitigation services, livelihood skill-building, health services, and Education support services.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Child Protection Case Worker
Locations: Katsina and Zamfara
Employment Type: Full Time
Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the CP officer the Child Protection Case Worker is a member of the GPON case management team at the location where s/he is deployed.
The Caseworker will be responsible for the implementation of the Comprehensive Case Management as well as FTR activities as well as coordinating with relevant GPON staff and stakeholders involved in protection, family tracing and reunification (FTR) including child protection community mobilization staff.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the Caseworker will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Responsibilities
Conduct intake interviews with individuals identified during PSS, Campaigns work or referred by other agencies, and open a case if vulnerability criteria are met.
Perform service mapping assessments.
Support on and keep up-to-date service map to which children and families can be referred in the facility and catchment area
Provide continuous basic emotional support and counselling through regular follow-up meetings, establishing a relationship built on trust and respecting confidentiality protocols.
Carry out comprehensive assessments for each client after receiving their consent, considering emotional, behavioural, and social factors affecting their psychosocial well-being as well as protection and risk factors.
Conduct home visits to assess clients’ living conditions when necessary.
Develop a tailored case plan with the client based on needs identified during the assessment.
Refer clients to appropriate services and, when necessary, accompany them to different service providers.
Document cases on the internal case management platform and ensure that any progress on the action plan and any significant change in the client’s psychosocial well-being and overall situation is timely and duly recorded.
Ensure proper and safe filing and archiving of case management files to maintain data confidentiality.
Discharge cases when objectives in the case plan are met and no further needs are identified.
Plan and implement awareness-raising activities.
Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability, and need-to-know principles.
Participate in internal case management meetings and bring to immediate attention any case of special/emergency needs to the supervisor.
identify, assess, document, refer (to relevant services) and follow up at-risk children and families
Manage cases in an acceptable timeframe according to the case Management SOPs.
Undertake home visits to families of children receiving case management services
Respect confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines/ standards
Ensure that case management information is managed according to GPON approved procedures e.g. case management forms, registers and computer databases are used in an appropriate and correct manner and protected accordingly
Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of child protection risks in GPON operational areas
Support the preparation of all procurement and administrative documents required for case management implementation.
Prepare and share with line manager monitoring reports/updates
Participate in Case conferences for the management of complex cases
Maintain highest standards of professional conduct and ensure actions do not put children at risks
Ensure good relationships and coordination with the main service providers in the area of intervention to improve the identification of persons with specific needs for prompt referral, follow-up, and information sharing.
Identify and report gaps in the availability and quality of services provision for clients in the target areas.

Requirements
A university degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology) is an asset.
minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel, and Internet).
Local language proficiency.

Fluency in English, and Hausa.

Salary and Conditions
N300,000 - N450,000 monthly.
Note
The income will be subject to statutory deductions as per applicable Nigerian laws.
The employee is responsible for the tax returns.
