Job Summary
The Department is responsible for presenting OPEC objectives, decisions and actions in their true and most desirable perspective; disseminating news of general interest regarding the Organization and the Member Countries on energy and related matters and carrying out a central information programme and identifying suitable areas for the promotion of the Organization’s aims and image.
Objective of Position
To carry out editorial work and to coordinate and supervise the activities of the Editorial Team, thereby ensuring high standards of the Secretariat’s publications, speeches, reports, articles and other pertinent communication.
Main Responsibilities
Supervises and coordinates the editing of the Secretariat’s publications (both regular and special publications), as requested, ensuring high quality in the editorial content and messaging, as well as timely delivery.
Coordinates and supervises the Editorial Team.
Oversees the production of the OPEC Bulletin on a bimonthly basis.
Supervises the speechwriting processes for the OPEC Secretary General, and members of management.
Produces stories, analyses, commentaries, Op-Eds and feature articles for both OPEC’s website and the Secretariat’s publications.
Coordinates interviews with key stakeholders (OPEC Ministers, the Secretary General, and other Ministers of Energy, Heads of Organizations or Agencies active in petroleum markets) for dissemination on the OPEC website and in publications.
Carries out any other tasks assigned by the Director, Research Division.
Required Competencies and Qualification
Advanced degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Social Sciences
8 years in journalism, editorial work, public information, public relations or related fields
Applicants must be nationals of Member Countries of OPEC and should not be older than 55 years.

Status and Benefits
Members of the Secretariat are international employees whose responsibilities are not national but exclusively international. In carrying out their functions they have to demonstrate the personal qualities expected of international employees such as integrity, independence and impartiality.
The post is at grade D reporting to the Head, PR & Information Department. The compensation package, including expatriate benefits, is commensurate with the level of the post.
