Job Title: Research / Knowledge Management Advisor
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Purpose
Leads and manages a medium-sized team tasked with helping champion organization-wide knowledge management, exchange, learning and documentation so that the Pathfinder’s know-how, information, and experience is shared inside and as appropriate outside the organization with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
Leads in developing tools for knowledge management and exchange and contributes to communicating results and impact. Plans for and selects consultants and provides targeted training as needs arise.
Responsibilities
Systems, Policies, Standards and Guidelines
Contributes to developing MEL strategy and plans specific to knowledge management, exchange, learning, documentation, and dissemination. Partners with Programs and Impact and country offices to institutionalize Pathfinder’s policies, guidelines and standard procedures research proposals, and monitoring and evaluating projects with a focus on knowledge management.
Develops the system and guidelines for the enterprise for use of findings gained from lessons learned and documents the identification of opportunities for Pathfinder.
Oversees the design and input to knowledge management and business intelligence systems, including literature reviews.
Knowledge Management Tools:
Leads the development and management of iShare, SharePoint, and other knowledge management and learning tools using KM best practices, including but not limited to identification of successful and failed strategies and supporting training materials.
Leads coordination of knowledge management with other units for systems and data usage. Oversees the development of taxonomy and information architecture. Oversees technical assistance provided to libraries (TALs), archiving and use of knowledge products.
Knowledge Management Planning and Implementation:
Works with team to develop KM/KE/Learning plans, including project design, appropriate selection of final project indicators and data sources, and teamwork plans to ensure effective implementation.
Designs evaluations, research, and quality improvement studies that meet ethical, methodological standards.
Leads staff to develop and implement learning guidelines, standards, processes, procedures for their respective office or projects.
Works with team to identify consultant pool for assessments and evaluations that require expertise outside of Pathfinder.
Manages resources including KM budgets for projects
Data Collection Methodology:
Directs and coaches team members to design and implement quality project-specific collection of data, analytics and visualization for performance monitoring, evaluation purposes, and technical visibility, including developing research protocols. Conceptualizes, develops, and implements an appropriate system for collecting monitoring and evaluation data to enable the project to report to stakeholders and use data to assess achievement of goals and objectives.
Knowledge Management Products:
Oversees the creation and dissemination of knowledge products (tech pubs, intake meeting, interviews, document review, writing, collaboration within MEL for data, reviews, collaboration with communities of practice).
Supports technical assistance on information collection for documentation, packaging, and branding for visibility.
Management and Supervision:
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and supervises staff.
Identifies staff for KM-related assignments in matrix structure.
Resource Management:
Works with team to identify consultant pool for assessments, evaluations, research, and implementation science that require expertise outside of Pathfinder; Manages resources.
Training and Education Development and Delivery
Designs, develops and delivers relevant training to Pathfinder staff and MEL staff.
Leads knowledge expertise across teams, business units and key stakeholders.

Minimum Education and Work Experience
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in knowledge management, library science, information systems, social sciences or a related field, or a combination of education and experience that yields the required competencies.
10 years of progressively responsible experience in MEL health/development projects or equivalent.
Experience living and working in Nigeria.
